RINA is a multinational certification and accreditation body with a network of over 70 countries and more than 160 years’ experience in verifying quality, safety and sustainability compliance in the industrial, maritime, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Sammontana has partnered with Rina — a recognised and independent organisation with extensive experience — in developing the Code and conducting audits across the entire supply chain to verify compliance with the requirements of both the Code and ISCC PLUS certification.

3Bee Srl is a nature tech company that develops technologies for monitoring, protecting and regenerating biodiversity.

In recent decades, biodiversity loss has reached alarming levels, with a 70% decline in monitored vertebrate populations between 1970 and 2020.

The main drivers of this decline include land and sea use changes, pollution, climate change, invasive species and overexploitation of resources.

To carry out biodiversity analysis, we have partnered with XNatura, the Nature Intelligence division of 3Bee Srl, implementing a rigorous monitoring protocol to track pesticide use and water consumption. We also commissioned a detailed biodiversity assessment which makes use of artificial intelligence, IoT sensors, satellite technologies and cloud computing.

A spin-off of the University of Padua, Spinlife provides expertise and knowledge to support the strategic development of sustainability in businesses and public administrations, across all its dimensions: environmental, social and governance (ESG). As a university spin-off, it acts as a bridge between academia, industry and public institutions, promoting the adoption of innovative sustainable management approaches rooted in cutting-edge research along with the development of scientific models for analysis and evaluation to generate positive impacts on industrial production and the surrounding territory.

Spinlife has collaborated with Sammontana since the beginning of its sustainability journey, providing a scientific foundation for assessing environmental impact. The partnership began with a carbon footprint analysis of our iconic Barattolino, and has since expanded to other products and, more importantly, to the study methodology itself.

In this context, Spinlife supports Sammontana in verifying compliance with the rules of the Code and collecting data generated by supply chain partners, including greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption and circularity analysis.

The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is an independent, multi-stakeholder organization and a leading certification system supporting sustainable, fully traceable, climate-friendly, and forest-protective supply chains. Specifically, the ISCC PLUS certification verifies the sustainability characteristics of alternative feedstocks throughout the entire supply chain — from the point of origin to the end consumer. In addition, ISCC PLUS verified that farms and plantations comply with sustainability criteria, such as the origin of raw materials, sustainable agricultural practices, and GHG emissions (certification add-on).*

Through   the ISCC system, the traceability of materials across the entire supply chain is ensured.  This means that every party involved — from raw material production to processing and distribution — must maintain clear and transparent documentation to ensure product compliance with ISCC standards.

To uphold this traceability, the physical segregation chain of custody model has been adopted. This model guarantees that materials certified as sustainable remain strictly separated from non-certified materials throughout the entire production process.
